In the good old days, when homeowners wanted to sell a home, they simply called an agent and listed it. Today's sellers are juggling many roles: parent, spouse, chauffeur, coach, employee, student and more. There is very little personal time to get the house in great shape, let alone make it look spacious and well designed.

Affluenza is an unofficial term, but one I use often, meaning a condition where one spends discretionary income on non-necessary items. It is probably the most common problem I see in homes I organize. Pack up as many things as possible and strive to present a calm clean, clutter-free, spacious home - even if it isn't spacious. The idea is to show the buyers that there is plenty of storage space for their stuff in this house.
