But the search for normal remains an elusive one. It will continue to be so until Israel, currently celebrating its fiftieth year of existence, resolves the conflict that has plagued it since its birth in 1948. Namely: two peoples, one land. Unfortunately, Israelis remain bitterly divided on how this should be done, and even if a consensus were to emerge, they can't do it without the help of their Palestinian neighbors.
