No matter why one moves to Israel, the most difficult part is leaving loved ones behind. Taking Ben from my mother and father was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever had to endure in my life. Even now, I call them nearly every day so they can hear the sound of their only grandson’s voice, and so that he doesn’t forget who they are.

Ben is fluent in both Hebrew and English, even though he is only three years old. He seems to move back and forth between the two countries as if it’s little more than a trip to the corner market. If only it were so easy for me.
